Inspired by the Principality of Sealand, an unrecognized microstate often characterized as a micronation, founded by Major Roy Paddy Bates on an old British seafort built in international waters, and by the founding of SOAD (the State of the African Diaspora), a non-territorial 'state without borders' comprising the worldwide African diaspora, and further inspired by the restoration of the historical Knights Templar as the Sovereign Magistral Order of the Temple of Solomon through the revival of the Independent Kingdom of Mann, and the proclamation of the Republic of Biafra/United States of Biafra, Commissioner the Rev. Dr Chase Neil created the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii as a micronation to ensure sovereign Commissions of the RCC.
What is the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii?
The Principality Tribe is both a 'principality' - a state governed by a Prince, and a 'tribe' - a social group or division within a wider society living in a specific geographical area and sharing common language(s), customs, religious/spiritual beliefs, familial ties, and a shared sense of identity - usually headed by a Chief. As a principality, it is non-territorial; a state without borders just like the Holy See, the Order of Malta, the Sovereign Magistral Order of the Temple of Solomon, and the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), and is sovereign in its own right, subject to no one but its people and head of state. As a tribe of Jamaica, however, it occupies, the head of state's family land and is subject to the laws of Jamaica.
The head of state is the Prince Chief Commissioner, who serves as the Prince of the Principality, Chief of the Tribe and the Chief Commissioner of the Ranger Cadet Combined Corps (RCC), whose members make up the member-citizens of the Principality Tribe.
Aarsiisii is also a micronation. A micronation is a cultural or/and political entity that self-identifies as a sovereign or semi-sovereign state and possesses the features of a state according to the Montevideo Convention and definition of a state: (1. territory, 2. a permanent population, 3. a government, and 4. the ability to conduct diplomatic relations with other states), but is not recognized as a state by other recognized states.
Is this legal?
Yes. As a micronation, the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii is perfectly legal and may carry out all the duties and activities of a state so long as it does not break the laws of the Jamaican state. Unlike some other micronations, Aarsiisii does not attempt to secede or break away from the Jamaican state, but sees itself, especially in light of its status as a tribe, as a part of the Jamaican identity and culture.
Why?
The Jamaican acting head of state, the Governor-General, refused to grant Ranger Cadet Officers Commissions, so Aarsiisii as a state fulfils this need to Commission Officers.
Is this a serious nation, or is it a fun project?
It is both. The Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii is a serious micronation, and as a sovereign micronation, it does not need the approval of anyone other than its member-citizens to exist.
The Charter for the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii grounded in the Constitution of the Ranger Cadet Combined Corps and the Memorandum and Articles of Incorporation of the RCC and the Rules Preluding and for the Foundation of the Charter of the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii define the state as a real, serious, meaningful and deliberate entity. Not only does the state exist to ensure a Sovereign to grant Commissions to Ranger Cadet Officers and Youth Justice Councillors, but it also serves the purpose of promoting, affirming and celebrating Jamaica's Afrocentric heritage and values as equally as we affirm, promote and celebrate our Eurocentric heritage, structures and values and gravitate to American ones. Unofficially, the Principality Tribe also exists to recognize, celebrate and venerate our unsung heroes who have dedicated their lives to serving others or accomplishing worthy feats that are not recognized or celebrated by the Jamaican government and wider public, exercising this role/objective through the Virtual Monuments business and webpage.
Still, despite the serious nature of and dedication to our cause, just as we enjoy cadetting as members of the RCC, we enjoy being member-citizens of our own little state. So, yes, it is fun.
Do you expect people to take you seriously?
Taiwan (Republic of China) is a full state with a fully functioning government and economy, millions of citizens, exercising sovereignty and unimpeded governance over its territory and the United Nations and numerous nation-states refuse to accept them as a state because of China. The State of Palestine, though occupied by Palestinians, despite Israeli occupation and domination, has government, citizens, territory, economy and diplomatic relations, yet is still not regarded as a full state. The Principality of Sealand, though it occupies (tiny) territory, has a government and (tiny) population, but hundreds of thousands of citizens worldwide, and has engaged in diplomatic relations with Germany and the United Kingdom is not recognized as a state, yet the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which has no territory or citizens is treated as a state, and the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) has been dubbed by the African Union as the 6th region of Africa and a 'state without borders'. It is clear that the world leaders themselves don't take themselves and the clear definition of a state seriously.
A state is a state regardless of recognition by others. It is what it is. And people may do as they wish. It doesn't change the facts, nor does it affect what we do.
Where do you get your authority?
A state does not need any authority to exist and operate, except the authority given to it by its citizens. This right to choose one's government and political structure is affirmed in Article 21(3) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that "The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government." This applies also to micronations.
Now that we are clear that a state, whether it is a recognized state, unrecognized state, macronation or micronation, does not need any permission or authority to exist and operate beyond that of its people, we can look at further authorities by which the Principality Tribe exists and operates. In order to have a semi-corporate existence in Jamaica to easier conduct business with the state, the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii is affirmed and established as a body and tribal symbolic principality in both the Memorandum of Association and the Constitution of the Ranger Cadet Combined Corps, which is registered as a company in Jamaica. Furthermore, the Charter for the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii is registered as an unincorporated entity with the Island Records Office of Jamaica. The Principality Tribe therefore has legal authority to operate in Jamaica through these documents, especially as it relates to Commissioning Youth Justice Councillors and Officers of the RCC, inspecting the ranks from time to time, ordaining Aarsiisism clergy, and defending, promoting and affirming Afroconscience and Afrocentricism. Note - this in no way constitutes 'permission', since as stated before, none was needed.
Our diplomatic relations with other micronations and our membership in such international intermicronational organizations such as the League of Independent Nations (LIN), the Grand Unified Micronational (GUM) and the United Micronational Organization (UMO) reinforce our standing and authority in the micronational sphere.
In summary, the Prince Chief Commissioner and his government get their authority to act through the Charter for the Principality Tribe of Aarsiisii and its Rules Preluding and the will of the Aarsiisian member-citizens. In addition, the Prince Chief Commissioner, having been made a noble and royal by other royals, has authority to act as a royal sovereign (within the limits of the RCC, Principality Tribe and the micronational space, of course).
